I worked for Richard from 2000 to 2004 in Atlanta, where he mentored me and taught me the skills of a CFO that I use today. I also ran and biked with him fairly often. He was the best and smartest person I ever worked for and he taught me the importance of having fun at work, but always working hard. He showed a level of caring, humor and compassion in the workplace that I think is quite rare today. I had always hoped I would have an opportunity to work with him in the future and regret that he has left us before I had that chance.

Max and I were saddened upon hearing of Richard

Mr & Mrs Peacock, Susan and David, I was deeply saddened to hear of Richard's passing. I am a long time CSR cadet", just like Richard and we first met in 1979 working on the 6th floor of CSR's then Sugar Division at 55 Clarence St, Sydney. Even way back then, we worked hard but we always had fun and often found time to join Richard in a game of cricket in the hallways using a rubber ("eraser" for the Americans !!) as the ball and a ruler as the bat. My career with CSR (now Rinker) somewhat followed Richard, first to Hawaii where I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Richard's family - Susan and David, you were pretty young and I doubt would remember me ...... and then in the early 90's to the mainland US with Richard's support. Richard was just an outstanding guy - he was smart (probably the smartest guy I have ever worked with), his capacity for work was unmatched, he was funny, he was fun to be with and everyone that knew Richard loved him and admired him. Richard left a legacy in our industry - Susie and others have talked about how well he managed "Project Rocket". The way I see it, he not only managed the project, he championed it from the start - he worked hours at a time to put the business case together, to convince our board of directors and others that we should undertake the project and then he put the team together and led it to the finish line. We had our share of implementation pains but what we have now, 10 years later is an industry model - one that we as a company are very proud of, has won awards and gives us an advantage over our competitors in what we do every day. That is one of Richard's legacies and you all should be very proud of his achievements. He made a difference to our company, he made a difference in many people's lives, he made a difference in my life, I am very honoured to have known Richard and I am proud to have been his friend. My deepest sympathies............Peter Trimble"

To Richard's Family: Know that Richard leaves a legacy you can be proud of. A quiet man - until he laughed. A shy man - unless he was with friends. An intellectual - who knew how to apply his smarts to improve the business. A leader - who inspired loyalty and great teamwork.Richard was a visionary. Those of us who worked with Richard continue to reap the benefits of his vision and passion. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr & Mrs Peacock, David and Susan: I was profoundly saddened to hear of your tragic loss and my prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. Richard was one of my very first bosses at CSR in Nth Sydney and was instrumental in offering me opportunities in my career across the US. He was about the smartest guy I ever knew and you could learn more by spending a day with him than you could a week with a professor. He was kind, generous and had a sharp wit. He was just a good guy to be around and I will retain very fond memories of times spent with Richard. I will miss him but won't forget him.

Richard was one of a kind: his wit, his intellect and the way he looked after those that worked for him. I thoroughly enjoyed my two years working with him as my client and had many a wonderful belly laugh with him. He would write me a blistering mail complaining about something then 5 minutes later have a laugh about it. I'll never forget that he flew thousands of miles to go to my wedding in South America. I learned from him, admired him and will miss him.

Mr & Mrs Peacock, Susan & David My sincerest condolences in your loss. I had both the pleasure and privelege of working with Richard for many years in the US. ( I am originally from Adelaide).. Richard set the benchmark" in professionalism, hard work and attention to detail for us all ( and we could never quite get "there" because he would just raise the level another notch!! ).I have NEVER met or worked with an individidual that could in "light speed" understand an issue or project and then after a non- stop commmitment turn out a first class evaluation for all management to review and make good decisions going forward. "Laugh".!!!.. we had MANY good times together enjoying a good laugh ( sometimes at others expense of course!!), Richard had a dry but great sense of humor. His eyes would sparkle and he such a "mischevious look " when he was planning a prank ( and there were many!! ) and some of the best times I remember with the Company were those FUN times with Richard...May God Bless and be with you in this time of loss"

A terribly sad day. As Susie said, there are a large number of Australians who knew him for a only a few short years, and yet he had such a deep impact on our lives. A razor-sharp intellect, an impish wit, indefatigable energy, an intensely caring person - he will be deeply missed.

Mr. and Mrs. Peacock, Susan and David: Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your loss. Richard was a mentor and a great friend of mine through the years. The time I worked closely with him in Georgia and Florida, and especially those years in which he was my boss, were the most formative of my professional career. Richard took a keen interest in many of us and we are all not only better in our jobs for it, we are better people. Richard was always thoughtful and kind. He was a lot smarter than the rest of us, but he was always patient and respectful in bringing us along". I will forever be grateful for the times I shared with Richard. He has had a positive impact on my life and so many of us that had the honor to work with him and be his friend. I will miss him greatly but his legacy lives on all of us who were so profoundly impacted by the difference he made in our lives."

Susan, David, Mr. and Mrs. Peacock, I really don't know what to say at a time like this except to tell you how saddened we are to learn of Richard's passing. I worked for Richard in Atlanta for about 5 years and during that time came to know him as a friend as well as my boss. We traveled together often, played golf occasionally, went running together (he was always faster), and spent a lot of time talking. We often spoke of our children and he loved to talk about Susan and David. He was so proud of them. He visited us in Augusta once and stayed in our home for a few days. My wife and son both came to know Richard and are saddened as well. Richard was probably the smartest and quickest study of anyone I have ever met. There was nothing he could not master once he set his mind to it. It was indeed an honor to work for him and I learned a great deal from him. These last few years I tried to keep up with him by email after he went back to Australia, and regret now that I did not do a better job of keeping in contact. He was a good man and a friend, he will be missed by many. Sincerely, Chuck Cason
