I had the pleasure of working with Ray in the 1990s at the Australian Society of Authors. Ray was a lovely woman to work with: steady, wise, honest, warm, and also very organised - perhaps a little too organised in the staff kitchen where no one could clean up quite as well as she did! Older than me, her manners and approach to work were a good model to learn from. She was particularly caring about ASA members, and seemed to know everyone or know of everyone who was a member and was invariably kind, especially to the older members. A lovely woman, who will be missed by many close to her I'm sure.
