I count myself blessed to have known him, and doubly so at being Peter's Godson. Enthusiastic in life, steadfast in faith, loving, caring, a ready smile and laugh and a "press the flesh" are my memories of his character. He stood in as a father figure for me, and was a wonderful example of father and husband. I have never met his equal, nor I suspect shall I on this side of the cross. Thank you, I miss you, I will see you again

On the day of Peter's service at St. Phillips I was walking back
to my car which was parked up the hill a little way when a postman on his
motorbike did a "wheely" and pulled up beside me and asked me what was going
on at the Church as he had never seen so many cars. When I told him he
looked so sad and said " Oh no, not Peter!" I really felt that Eastwood
was back to being like an English village where everyone knew everyone else
and, what's more, cared. It really was a genuine response of sadness that
this man showed and he was just the guy who delivered your letters. It was
most impressive.

I am proud to have you as a brother that saw me as a mate
You have left us with many happy memories and stories that will go on forever and no doubt like the fishing ones they will grow .You have left indelible marks on all who got to know you .
Keep a spot in your boat for me

Uncle Peter, was always there with a smile and big hug. At Christmas his laughter filled the room that the One Day Cricket Matches were on, then you'd hear him in the room with the "Sydney to Hobart" race. He was always interested in what you were doing and rembered all the little things. My children will always treasure their minuture floats he made upon their birth. All happy memories of good times. Love Danielle, Breanna, Nicola and Brodie Poynting

So many memories. I love the way he would walk into a room and say "H E L L O M E E G" with enthusiasm and interest. I loved the wasy when we did our Christmas Concerts he would clap really loudly. I love the way he loved his family like my Dad loves his. We will miss you Uncle Peter.

I was fortunate enough to meet Cath at School and reconnect with her just after we had our first children- I met "Dad" and Mum in our School days and they treated me just like family. An unfortunate incident occurred when I had a car accident ( I will spare you the details) however I was very shaken and scared and as it happened at Eastwood the first people I thought of to help was Dad... He looked after me and took charge and made me feel safe and loved... I will never forget that ever.... I have also had the pleasure of catching up down south with Cath, Soph and Jayden - Mum and Dad and also my children... Dad became a surrogate Pa to my children and took my eldest under his wing to explain the intricate details of fishing and fish traps....April still talks about those precious times.... Just a big thank you for allowing us to share in your lives and be filled with the sunshine that you took everywhere you went.
Love Always

I always loved Pa and I always will.I will miss Pa because he was SO wonderful.I will also miss Pa's "Kitty Kat and Woof" stories and going fishing with him.Going down to Sanctuary Point and Palm Beach was just SO MUCH fun.He would always let Jayden, I and Mummy have a snuggle in bed in the morning. One time when we were at Sanctuary Point I woke up at ten in the morning and he still wouldn't get up until he had his snuggle with me.
I LOVE YOU PA.

On Friday 1st July 2011 the world lost a wonderful man.Peter Ferris was my beloved Dad,Michael's father-in-law,and Sophie and Jayden's adored Pa. We are so unbelievably blessed, not just to have been his family, but to have been SO loved by him. So many of my friends would comment that they wished they had a Dad like him, and for that reason he also had many 'adopted' kids. He had such a big heart and was very generous with his time and his love. He loved 'his bride',his children, his grandchildren, his brothers and his God. He also loved fishing(with his brothers and his grandchildren),Palm Beach, cappucinos,a sherry in the evening with mum, and a good fish meal.
Dad was my friend,my strength,my comfort. The one I talked to about all the big things and all the little things - everyday! I am so very proud to be his daughter and I miss him so much it takes my breath away.
From the lyrics of "For Good" -
It well may be that we will never meet again in this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me is made from what I learned from you
You'll be with me like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine by being my friend...
......because I knew you I have been changed for good.
Thankyou Dad for a lifetime of love and wonderful memories.
My love always, Cath xx

Peter was one of the loveliest, most caring man I've ever had the privilege of knowing. He always greeted me with a huge smile & hug even though we didn't see him very often. He has bought up some amazing children, one of which has impacted my life hugely in a great way! Peter will be dearly missed, all the best for Thursday, sorry I can't make it! Lots of love to all the Ferris family, especially Jan xoxo love Megan Edward & family

I have many memories of Peter, but the ones that immediately come to me are: saving the corks (had to be the real stuff!) for those customised black fish floats; climbing through the window onto the roof in Eastwood to watch the NYE fireworks; always interested in my whole family - immediate and extended, and not just how work was but how I am; remembering everything about a conversation we had months ago; sharing his QANTAS experiences; his interaction with all the grandkids (even grand kids-in-law; his smile; popping and cracking Tim's back, joints and anything else that need a good ol' manipulation!!!
