i went to bootcamp with her, she was a great person and a good marine, rip Lauterbach and you will be missed.

Maria, thank you for serving our country. I am sorry our justice system did not serve you properly. I hope that you and your baby are in heaven now smiling down. My sincerest regards go out to your family right now in this most difficult time.

So sorry that the other Marines did not care about one of there injured! If a gal says someone hurt them, get off your ASS and protect... if not you will be damed for ever.

Just a little note of condolence for the family of Maria. I'm a former marine and very upset for what has happened. This action is not how marines treat other marines. Hopefylly, the coward is found and brought to justice. SEMPER FI !!

my god be with you Lcpl. Lauterbach.
with all our prays to and your family from Camp Los Angeles @Kabul AF.

First off my prayers go out to the Lauterbach Family, I know the Lauterbach's and it angers me to hear someone disrespect there daughter . Is this the kind of people we have defending our country, is this what it means to be a marine. God Bless the lauterbach family!!!!

It takes a really heartless, evil person to post such disrespectful things about a person who has been violated an murdered the way this young lady has, I pray to God that you or your Mother, sister, daughter of wife will never suffer the same fate, and may God have mercy on your soul. God bless u Maria and your innocent unborn child.

Re: your posting on Maria's site, not only is an insult to her, her family, but also to your fellow Marines! Why the disrespect to all three parties , and why would you publically display your ignorance!?
May she RIP and may her family find the comfort in eachother to survive such a horrible loss.

We don't know all of the circumstances surrounding this event, but whether she lied or not, she did not deserve this. I pray for her family and for those who are heartless enough to leave such ignorant comments on this website.

so sorry to hear about Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach. how senseless of an act this was I take it a Marine dont take care of their own, she should have been Army, we dont leave a fellow comrade behind.
RIP Lance Cpl.

I did not know Maria, but have been following the news on her. I grew up in Jacksonville, NC, so I am always drawn to news from that area. I currently live in Tupelo, Ms. My heart goes out to her family and friends. No human deserves to be trashed the way some have trashed Maria. No woman deserves to be raped. No means NO and certainly no woman deserves to be murdered. Maris's family is not only in my prayers, I am also praying for the heartless people writing in. I hope they or their families are never struck by such a tragedy like this.

I made this video to express my feelings of sorrow for her.

Rct Lauterbach, I am deeply sadden by this lost. I am really touched that your life and your baby's life has been taken by a sinceless crime. My Prayers and Thoughts are with you and your family and I know that you will be in heaven smiling down on those who thought highly of you.

Peace, Maria and baby boy. At last in peace . . .

It took a brave and fearless woman to speak out against the crimes which had been perpetrated against her. This action speaks to her character and strength, and internal beauty as a human being. With this incredible step to convict the rapist, she could have spared future women from the horror of rape at the hands of this officer. She knew her life would not be easy, but she did not revoke her claims or give into the harassment. Likely, she knew her life was in danger but managed to continue believing in the military.
My prayers and thoughts are with the family. Undoubtedly, she is at peace now. She is a hero; though not of war at the hands of people in foreign nations, but a hero of the military who was brave enough to continue her course against all odds and physical threats.
God be with her.

Maria and the baby have been much in my prayers for a safe return to you, her family. My prayers continue to be with you in this, your greatest sorrow. I am the daughter of an honorable and Godly Marine, whose five other brothers (my uncles) also served their country with honor. The Marine Corp can sometimes instill honor in those that do not possess it, but more often, it is men such as my father that bring honor TO the Corp. With sadness, there are those few men who know little of "pride" or honor. Continuing my prayers for you.

It's sad to see someone so bright and beautiful suffer such a horrific death. It pains me to know a human could be so callous as to take a young mother and baby's life. May peace be with you & your baby. Your in God's Hands Now... Her Mother should be ashamed of the negative things she said and praise her for what she believed was right... Thank you for serving our country Ms. Lauterback

Such a total waste. Serving her country, she stayed strong & struggled for 9 months with the wrong that was done to her--thru humiliation, taunts, threats, aggravation, questioning & disbelief. Not to mention the discomfort & inconvenience of a pregnancy which she did not choose.
To have her & her baby's life unsanctimoniously, & savagely taken like it was breaks my heart. A beautiful upstanding girl. I want him to suffer daily for 9 months and then I want him to die the way she did.
My deepest condolences to her friends & family.

I worked with Maria and she was always so sweet. Such a terrible thing to happen to such a nice girl. My prayers are with her, her poor baby, and her distraught family at this terrible time. No one will forget her valient effort to have justice served, and the aweful price she paid.

May you both rest in peace. I am so sorry the military did not protect you and you paid the ultimate price.

SO MUCH SENSELESS VIOLENCE!!! MAY OUR LORD AND MOTHER MARY RECIEVE YOUR SOUL AND THAT OF YOUR LITTLE ONE~REST IN PEACE!

In our thoughts and prayers. Semper Fi.Cpl. Ethan Medearis, Kenedee, Savannah, Logan, and Lacey Medearis.

my condolences to another victim of the american military conspiracy

may god be with Marias family at this time. our prayers are with you.

From Nashville Tennesse, we are so saddened to hear of Marias death. May comfort and peace abound in the hearts and lives of her family and friends. I cannot even begin to realize how you must feel, but know there are so many of us, mothers like myself, lifting you all up in prayer. May God have mercy on the soul that did this horrific thing to two beautiful lives...

Sadly I did not know Maria but my hopes a prayers go out to her friends and family for the lose of a she and her child. Our nation has lost a very beautiful, smart and brave woman and my heart goes out to all that loved her. God Bless the Lauterbach family.

I didn't know Maria. But, I am a single mother, living far away from family, who also grew up in Dayton Ohio - and have, unfortunately, experienced some pretty serious instances of sexual harrassment throughout my career - so, naturally, I couldn't help but follow the news online every day since the story aired. I prayed every day for her safe return. And now, well, my heart just aches over this senseless tradgedy. I just want to convey my deepest sympathies to Maria's family and friends. I hope you all can find some comfort in the fact that God will take good care of Maria and the baby for you. I also know that horrible, horrible coward will be brought to justice, both here and in the after life.
May God Bless and Comfort Maria's Family & Friends.

I am soo sad to hear what has happened, I have followed the story about Maria since it came out, and it is very near to my heart. I live here in Jacksonville, NC and I was hoping and praying that they found her and she was unharmed. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends, I pray that they catch the monster who did this and put him away for life. I have since posted a couple of bulletins on myspace to all of my friends with his name and make and model of his vehicle, as well as the Sheriff's Dept. phone number to pass along to as many people as they can. I am soo sorry for her family's loss and pray that this never happens again.

I'm so sorry to hear about the tragic death of Maria and her unborn
child. My prayer goes out to her family and friends. May she and her baby rest in peace.

Thoughts and prayers for Maria and her family. We remember your kindness and spirit. God bless all.

May Maria and her baby rest in peace . Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends and the fellow Marines that knew her.. God bless.
i hope that they find this SOB ...

My deepest sorrow to the family and friends. This is difficult to deal with even though I have never met Maria. Semper Fi.

Our thoughs and prayers from one Marine family to another.

You are in the arms of the lord with your baby now, at peace God Bless You

I went to bootcamp with her and we were friends I cant believe anyone would want to do this to her. She was an amazing person, friend, marine and daughter I LOVE you Lauterbach wherever you are know that and know that justice will be served!

GOD HAS TWO NEW ANGLES

I am so sorry that happened and I just wanted to say thank you for serving our country.

GOD BLESS,MARIA LAUTERBACH AND UNBORN BABY

I did not know her, but wanted to express my thoughts and prayers! God Bless her family..

I can not express how sorry I am for everyone who loved Maria and her unborn baby. Please do not take to heart the negative comments that I have read on this site. They obviously do not understand mental illness, and they are blessed beyond their comprehension for being spared of that. Being familiar with bi-polar, I know that the comments made about Marie by her family were NOT by any means malicious. Those words were a last ditch effort of hope from a tourmented family to convince anyone still in "rescue" mode to be steadfast in finding her alive before it was too late. As a parent, I would divulge ANY and ALL information as possible to find my daughter ALIVE, as their hope was.
To the family, if you can get past the negative posts to read this, just know that there are so many people supporting you and praying for strength and comfort foryou. In a way, all of us got to know your daughter and hoped for her safe return home. I also would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her honorable commitment and bravery for serving her country. Our country.

I have lost lots of sleep on the interet and watching all news channels to get the latest news about Maria and baby-day and night.I was really hoping for GREAT news today and that u were fine but just scared. After I heard the news I cried for you. Tonight when I heard more news. It made me sick to the stomach. Being married to the USMC it saddens us both to know this happened by a fellow marine. We are suposed to leave for Michigan tomorrow bc my spouse leaves in 1 month for Iraq-we are not leaving now.I was born/raised here in Jacksoonville(29 years now) and have NEVER felt the way I feel now about an act of violence. This has torn alot of people up. WE WANT JUSTICE done for you Maria and your baby.GOD BLESS YOU.WE WILL NOT GIVE UP YOUR FIGHT!

I've watched nothing but news about you today and I am praying that you are and your child are still alive. Sadly if you are not, I can only send my deepest sympathy to your family. I too, know someone that has been missing for two years, her name is Tara Grinstead, and we are still praying for her safe return. God be with you and yours.

Maria, we know you are in a better place. No longer are you subjected to this evil world. You never have to worry about anyone hurting you again. We will get you and your unborn son justice. WE WILL!

My heart goes out to Maria's family. Being a former Marine myself I can relate to Maria as "my sister". Ever since I heard of the story - I can deeply say I was saddened and concerned. It's a great loss that She is no longer with us here - but God needed someone to guard his streets in heaven and he chose her and her little angel. My deepest sympathy for her family and my prayers are with them.

I have been praying for Maria since I saw on the news that she was missing. I pray that she and her son are resting in peace. I also hope that Cpl. Jerk never has one minute of peace for eternity! I am a mother of a 17 year old daughter and I cannot imagine what I would do if that was my child. I know that I would be in Jacksonville N.C. not in Texas telling people my daughter was a liar. I bet she never sleeps well again.

I am so sorry that you and your family have to go thru this. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

I have prayed for you everyday that if you were not found alive that somone would find you. I feel so bad for your family and my heart goes out to them. This is such a tragedy and senseless. I can't wait until the person who did this to you is brought to justice for you and your unborn baby boy.

The Title It cannot be inherited Nor can it ever be purchased. You, and no one alive can buy it at any price. It is impossible to rent and it cannot be lent. You alone and our own have earned it with your sweat, blood and lives. You own it forever. The Title, "United States Marine"

Lisa, I would like to thank you so so much for this striking image. To me, this encapsulates all the wonder and imagination behind Maria's most free of free spirits. It is incredible that someone with such talent can help us all remember someone close to us in such a unique way. When I think of Maria, I think of uniqueness. God Bless Maria Frances Lauterbach (1987-2007)

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful person. All of us who live in the Vandalia, Ohio area (where Ms. Lauterbach is from) have been extremely touched as well as the rest of country in this poor woman's and unborn child's tragic end. Thank You for such a wonderful memorial.

Maria Frances Lauterbach is going to change things for woman and children. Thank you for keeping her memory alive.
