It's hard to believe it has been a year since you went to heaven and reunited with Grandma Bun. I know you are in your glory up in heaven and watching over us. As Aunt Sharon said a lot of changes- Aunt Sis and Uncle Dean are back in Wisconsin with their children. Brad and Kristi are expecting a baby girl in November, our little erin is now -Mrs. Erin Brantner! Rob and I are expecting another baby! I know you will meet our newest members of the family in a different way- but I know you will meet them first. Until we meet again....much love Gramps!

Today's a year since you've been gone...I'm still wanting to call you and then remember, I can't. Today is Lauren's first Homecoming dance--you'd be happy to see the pictures. And Erin is now married. You should see Sophia--you'd love seeing her walk.....so many things have happened. Life goes on. Rest in peace, Dad. I miss you!

I worked with Louie up in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, Alaska back in the 1980's and have great memories of him completing many carpentry projects at the ranger station and playing in the wilderness. We hunted moose together and patrolled together. It was a great group of folks those years. We took my Hawken muzzle loader to the shooting range; rafted on the Copper River; patrol some of the backcountry trails on 3-wheelers and all pile into his van to make a run to "town." He also joined my family on ski and other trips. I will always have fond memories of Louie.

I have a ton of wonderful memories with grandpa but one that stands out the most is our trip to the boundary waters when I was 12. Being outside, camping, fishing, hiking etc. was grandpa's love and I feel so lucky to have shared that experience with him. Yes, it's a sad time but I know that now he's finally at peace, pain free, and smiling down on all of us...not to mention most likely swearing up and down at some of us. I must say I got my filthy mouth from my grandpa! :) I love and miss ya gramps, and think of you often. ...for sure everytime I pick up the lemon pepper! Til we meet again! -E:)

I know Grandpa had commented in the past that he had lived long enough. I don't think you can live long enough as so many things are left unsaid and undone when a loved one passes to a better place. And if you ever watched the news with him, he is in a better place. This memory I will share, the rest are between me and him. See you for coffee in the morning Grandpa.

Grandpa was a great and wonderful man. I have so many wonderful memories of him coming home in the spring and summer from out west.....I know he found such peace and utter joy in the beauty of the great outdoors! My husband and I are so grateful he was able to meet our daughter, his great granddaughter....oh he really loved holding her. Rest in peace Gramps. We love you. With all my love, Stephanie
