RIP DASHON HARVEY. YOU WERE A BLESSING ON THIS EARTH, NOW YOU ARE A BLESSING FASHION ICON IN HEAVEN.

User avatar

Although I didn't personally know the victims, I felt connected to them because I graduated Delaware state University in 1992 and I live not too far from where the crime occurred. But all the love that came and surrounded the families during that time showed they were wonderful kids and the fact that they even wanted to attend college showed they had big dreams...My hearts go out to all their family and friends

My heart goes out to all the families of this tragedy...I cry a tear often thinking about you guys and the pain of your families for losing you all this way. I was born in Newark and as soon as I turned 15, my mom moved us to North Carolina, even though violence is everywhere, I can't help but wonder where I would be if I were still there. Afraid I can tell you that.... when I visit again I will be sure to come by and pay my respect to your memorial. Always in my heart and in my prayers. Never to be forgotten.

I never met you, yet staring into your eyes leaves me with a feeling of loss, of you life as well as your friends. My 14 year old brother was gunned down in 2005, so I can only imagine how you, the family must feel. However know that these young kids lives had purpose. Please use this unfortunate event as a tool to educate our youth, God knows they need help. I feel tears welling in my eyes, but when I cry for this young man, I will cry also for all of your youth that have left this world in a way that leaves us behind feeling cheated. Please pray, and may your loved one rest high on a mountain with the Savior as his companion.

It's hard to believe that a year has past since this terrible tragedy. My family and I got together in remembrance of Shawny and went to a memorial garden that was errected in the kids honor and we went to the cemetery to pay our respects. A year later, it's still hard to believe this happened. All the people responsible for this henious crime have been captured and we're just waiting patiently for the judicial system to proceed.

Hi all. Dashon, aka "Shawny" was my cousin. We had just came back from a cruise two weeks prior to this tragedy. It's hard to believe he is gone due to this senseless act of violence. But Shawny was a wonderful person and enjoyed life to the fullest. We had so much fun together on the cruise. Matter of fact that was the last time I saw him, leaving the airport. Even though he is gone I will always have those wonderful memories from our cruise. He surely didn't deserve this to happen to him. But to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Thank you all for your warm wishes and thoughts.

I didn't know this young man personally but I knew him because he came in the bookstore frequently. Such a fun and loving spirit. He resembles my nephew who is the same age whose name is Jaeron (JAE). So I told him because he looked like Jaeron, that's what I'd call him. He laughed and said okay. Everytime he came in the bookstore or if I'd see him in the student center, I'd yell out, "Hey Jae" and he'd laugh and with a huge smile he'd respond "Hey"... Dashon, you're smile, style, and fun personality will truly be missed.

Of course like many others I became aware of Dashon through CNN or Media. CNN mentioned his myspace page and I thought I wonder if I can view it. So the search lead me to Dashons myspace profile. And day in and day out you hear about tragedies and someone losing a loved one but they are just words to the ppl that are not able to feel the actual lost. But looking at Dashon's page gave his situation a face...you were able to tell what kind of person he was and the fact that it could have easily been myself or a close friend. He seemed like such a bright light and a blessing to all who knew him. I noticed he had logged on the same day that he was taken away and it just made me look and feel completely different about the situation. Although you may not know me I pray for Dashon's family and friends just as if we knew each other. I could never imagine losing a loved one. Dashon's passing is not only a lost to his friends and family..but a loss to all bc this young man's personality and abilities could have had a major impact on things unknown. God bless!

Dear Family of Dashon Harvey, I have seen Mr. Harvey on CNN and my heart is aching for all of you. Such a great loss, and so unfair. I certainly agree with Mr. Harvey's words about people who do not respect our laws and commit such heinous crimes. Please know you are all in my thoughts as you begin to face the future without your son, Dashon. He must have been a terrific guy.

I send my deepest of deepest sympathies to the families of these young people.I am but 21 years of age and it could have been any one of God's children that this tragic event happened to.I can't tell you I know what you are experiencing cause I don't I am a mother of two and I couldn't imagine but I just hope that you can find comfprt in knowing that your children knew of our savior and worshipped him and recognized that he is alpha and omega the beginning and the end and without him we are nothing.Just find comfort in knowing that they are with the father in an eternal and peaceful rest.

They say the good die young and only our Lord knows why things happen. This was a senseless act and I cant get this whole tragic ordeal out of my head. I have prayed that our Lord will give the surviving families strength to deal with this. The violence really does need to stop. We have to keep God close to us; and remember there are 3 new angels he needed back!! I pray for the parents and the family. I pray for the surviving sister; Girl you are brave and God will get you through this. There is a reason you survived. We are all here for a reason and our time is short. We need to make the best of it!!!! One love to all of the people who took the time out to share their thoughts and prayers! Be Blessed

A young man's life is taken away in such a meaningless way. I don't have words for how sorry I feel for Dashon Harvey's family, relatives and friends. I hope you'll get through this terrible loss. Be strong and remember the joyful moments Dashon shared with you.

As a news junkie I heard about this horrible incident when it was first reported. It's just horrible and senseless, and I can't imagine what the parents are feeling. I have nightmares about losing my kids in various public areas, but to have them taken like this goes beyond my limited imagination. When I first heard about these kids, it was immediately clear that they had great, loving parents who guided them. Good people don't happen by nature, it takes love and nurture. I saw James Harvey on the news and he immediately earned my highest respect. I feel so horrible about your loss, and wish there was some way to turn back the hands of time. Thank you for taking the high ground and placing blame where it belongs. I'd love to believe I would be that dignified in the same situation, but I doubt that I could pull it off. Dashon was lucky to have you as a mentor, and by appearance, you were blessed with a great apprentice. I don't know what else to say, this is just so sad.

I want to send my deepest, heart felt condolences to the families of the victims. Even though alot of people who didn't know these kids would like to share your pain and you grief at this time. Heavenly Father has a different plan for everyone even though the way they died was tragic but I hope the families will find comfort in knowing they are with their Heavenly Father in a beautiful place called Heaven where there is no violence, pain, hurt, or anything of that nature but only JoY! May God continue to bless you all and continue to comfort you with his love.

My heart and prayers go out to the harvey family. My son too is a junior at DSU and met Dashon just a few weeks ago at an orientation for new students. I didn't know Dashon but It saddens me that this world is full of sick individuals that would take someone so precious away. Please keep the faith and your memories, god bless

"I didn't know Dashon or any of the others but I was in complete shock about what happened! I just listened to his dad on the news and he's right...parents need to step up and raise their kids right. It's getting totally out of control. I have a child the same age as Dashon so it hit me close to my heart. You are all in my thoughts and prayers..."

What a terrible loss. It is heartbreaking for the parents. It is heartbreaking for family and friends. I feel sad because Dashon's parents have suffered such a terrible loss. I am sorry for the parents that this happened and I wish that it could be undone. This loss is mindless.

But if you look at DaShon's Myspace page he doesn't have any of the other people's that died with him on his Friends List and they don't even have any of the same friends. I'm just wondering how close he was to them? Was he only with them on a welm? Not that it matters or anything, but I was just curious. Just thinking to myself. How awful it is to have just been hanging out with some people on a humbug and get killed in the process. That really just bugs me out. Makes me wonder did he even want to hang out with them that day? How close was he to the others. I mean the others all grew up together. Dashon seemed to be more popular or so. Either way, it's a very very tragic situation. I just can't stop thinking about what happen. I often like to think that if I live right and not get involved in negative or sinful activities, that I don't have to worry about bad things happening to me. But this is a indication to me that no matter what I do, I can't be protected from evil. I mean I don't even know this people, but I cry everytime I read about it or read their comments on Myspace. I'm SO PISSED. I want the people that done this picked up and prosecuted. How can any of them live with themselves. I know that they've seen the media coverage on it. How can they just sit there as though that have no guilty concious whatsoever? I think that DaShon father said it best "people need to rasie their kids better" at the end of the day, that's what it all boils down to. No if, and, or buts about it. On top of that, TJ was a junior minister. These killers have NO IDEA whom's lives they took and now that they do know, they don't even care. Again, I'm SO PISSED. I consume myself every night around this time, just waiting to hear that the killer's have been caught, that's how I found this site in the first place. Well to all the victims families you have prayers coming out of Kansas.

More information has come to light about the three Newark kids. A possible suspect has been identified. I read this today and was saddened and inspired: Jaymee Wade, Dashon Harvey’s aunt, said that investigators had kept her family abreast of developments in the case. She recalled how she saw Mr. Harvey on Saturday before he set out with his friends, watching as they picked him up just hours before the shooting. “They were in good spirits, smiling and talking,” Ms. Wade said, adding that she called him later, about 11 p.m. “I didn’t get an answer.” His friend Natasha Aeriel survived a bullet that entered behind her ear and lodged in the back of her jaw, has been in and out of sedation in the postoperative wing of University Hospital here, guarded by a police officer. it was her information that led police to the suspect. Called “good kids” by the authorities, they all shared a love of music and attended or planned to attend Delaware State University.
