I grew up listening to Dan's music as he was one of my mother's favorite artists when I was a child. His music came to mean so much to me and still does to this day. He was an extremely talentend song writer and a beautiful singer. Thank you for singing us your beautiful songs and for uplifting our spirits. Rest in peace, Dan.

I've found so much inspiration and wonderment in Dan's music over the years. About 12 years ago, a wish came true: I got to meet Dan and talk to him one on one. After a concert, my sister and I were invited to the hotel bar for a drink. Well, my sister spent the time talking with one of the band members, leaving me to chat with Dan! What a night! Talking with him made him a "real" person, not just a "star". After an hour or two, the bar closed and he gave me a hug as my sister and I left. This night was one of the best memories of my life. I will always be thankful, not only to Dan for spending time with one of his fans, but also to my sister, without whose patience, this dream would not have come true.

A fellow musician turned me on to Dan Fogelberg back in 1974. When I first heard "Souvenirs," (a quiet album best listened to loud), I became a fan for life. I only saw Dan in concert twice: first, at a solo acoustic concert, in Charlottesville, VA, and again, when I was lucky enough to see the "High Country Snows" show in Atlanta. Dan was and remains a huge inspiration. My sincere condolences go out to his family & friends. I know that I will miss Dan for the rest of my days, but I'm so grateful for his music.

The first time I saw Dan in concert was at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis in 1975, when he played warm up for the Eagles. It was quite an experience that left a lasting impression. Dan's music has been with me since that time, through good times and bad, like a dear friend. Thank you Dan, for all the years, and all the music. It's helped me become the person I am. To Jean, and Dan's family, my deepest condolences. Favorite song: Souvenirs

Dan...you made me damn pround to be from Peoria. I've driven by the grocery store parking lot from Same Auld Lang Syne a million times. I walked the same halls, drank at the same bars at the University of Illinois. So on and so on but I appreciate the music. Lot of amazing songs. Peoria is gonna miss one of her sons. I promise that much.

Will Never Forget the Music I was crazy about his music and went to at least five concerts, mainly in Tennessee. They all felt intimate, even in large venues, and we hung on to every word. I hope his wife is surrounded by friends and the love of all those that miss him too!

My sisters, Lucia and Diane, and later Adrienne, all enjoyed listening to your music...I'm not one to constantly listen to all the music of my bygone college days...but when I saw that itunes added you to their library, I grabbed pretty much every album.... you're always pleasant to listen to, and I loved the guitar and your strong voice, but as time went on I really came to appreciate even more what an excellent lyricist and songwriter you are, and how you used strings and orchestra in your songs, during a time when very few mainstream contemporary musicans did.... Not so much a rock star, just a brilliant, talented musican.... May you make it to your next heavenly musical assignment with God's speed.... everyone up there is in for a treat..... Thanks so much for the music, and my deepest condolences to your loved ones..

While many of the 70's singer songwriters re-invented themselves to maintain popularity, there has only been one Dan Fogelberg. He remained true to his original style for all his career. I respect him for this and thus will I always remember the one and only Dan Fogelberg as an extremely talented singer, songwriter, guitarist, pianist and entertainer. I will miss him.

I feel as though I lost a part of my family. I do hope that doesn't offend anyone because I say this with love and respect. Dan has been such a big part of my life for so long.... my joys, my sorrows.... It was as if he was a big brother writing those songs for me because they so reflected what I was going through. That was his gift. To be able to reach and touch so many with his words and music. I'm sad today but feel so thankful and blessed to have a part of him with me forever for his music lives on. To his mom, brothers, and his dear Jean, thank you for sharing him with us.

I spoke with Dan on the radio station telephone in Jackson, MS when he came in 1974. The station had him in house and listeners were asked to call in and talk to him before the concert that night. I asked him how he started writing songs since I, too, wrote. I was 17 years old and so mesmerized by his voice that I don't even remember what he said to me. I fell in love with his heart felt songs and his passion for singing and his music is my absolute favorite of all I listen to. Love you, Dan. You are the best! Bonnie Smith Jackson, MS

St. Louis, MO 1975-Keil Auditorium. The Eagles with Dan Fogelberg. When Dad began to sing he had the sweetest voice.. We didn't really know who he was until the 3rd song. When he started singing Part of the Plan, the crowd went nuts. It was the best concert I ever went to. I mean Dan Fogelberg and the Eagles.. It just doesn't get any better than that. We stood right in front of the stage.. ticket price.. $5.50.. What a perfect night.. Priceless! He had the most perfect voice. He was a big part of my life during the 70's and a memory I'll never forget. Peace to Dan's family

Dear Jean and Dan's wonderful family, I am deeply saddened by Dan's passing and I wanted to share with you that I will forever be greatful for how he and his music affected my life. I was fortunate to have met Dan twice, once in 1975 when he played in Ohio before the Eagles at the Richfield Coliseum and several years ago after his 25 year acoustic tour at the Wildflower Festival in Dallas Texas. I have the wonderful memory of several of us who stayed behind after that concert and gave Dan a vocal tribute in harmony (we sang "Oh Danny Boy"). He shined a flashlight out of the bus window to thank us and then came out and signed autographs. I have the T-shirt he signed for me along with the memory of his gentle smile, hand shake and thank you for our songs. It was a magical night! Dan shared so many memories of his life with the audience that night. He spoke of how he was so blessed to have the life he had and WE, in the audience, exclaimed the same since most of the people there were long-time fans who grew up listening to his wonderful songs. Words cannot express how much Dan will be missed and what a loss this is to the music world. But, oh, what a wonderful addition to the heavenly chorus he will make! Thank you for sharing him with us and someday........ we'll all understand......But Dan, will Forever be a Part of Our Plan!

I have never forgotten one of Mr. Foglebergs' many fine performances at An aged venue in Nashville Tennessee known as the War Memorial Auditorium in 1975. His encore song was "a Place in the World for a Gambler" was splendid. Not a dry eye in the place and all were singing "let it shine" and Dan just sat back and listened. Tremendous performer and human being, he WILL be missed!

I stumbled across Dan's music when i first heard 'Netherlands' via BBC Radio 1's Dave Lee Travis (DLT) and purchased the album. I have most of Dan's albums and almost all can be played right the way through. As as each album was released, Dan was someone who always surprised me with his different styles and changes in music direction. A great talent who was taken from us much too early and who will be very sadly missed in this world...

I've been postponing my sadness since I first heard of Dan's advanced illness in 2004. Yesterday, the sadness came rushing in. I love Dan Fogelberg the artist. There is simply not one other singer/songwriter who moved me in the way Dan did. It appears I am not alone. One of my favorite Fogelberg songs is little known, from the Boxed set, PORPRAIT CD. It is entitled, "Mountains to the Sea." To quote Dan, There’s so many things you need to learn That I can never teach And places in your troubled soul That I may never reach. So I wander like and ebb and tide Along this lonely beach And cast my dreams like stones into the sea. RIP Dan. You will never be forgotten. B.J.

Dan Fogelberg was one of the first artists I can ever remember hearing. I have loved his music, in all its variety and magnificence, nearly my entire life. Dan's music inspired me to make my own, and that has made my life a much richer experience. His songs will live on in my soul.

In 1982 when I was buying my first stereo system, the store played a beautiful album for me to test the speakers. I asked who was singing..it was The Innocent Age by Dan Fogelberg. I bought the stereo and the album. I so fell in love with the music and later had all his albums. I saw him in concert many times. He always gave me a warm feeling and made me feel as though everything was going to be okay. I thank you Dan for all you gave to this world and pray that you really are in a better place now..until we all meet again....thanks for everything...thanks for the memories..................

When I heard of Dan's passing today I couldn't help but feel emotional. I had listened to the albums Souvenirs and Captured Angels when I was a very small child. His music was magical for me and helped me get through the bad and trying times in life. I was not aware he had cancer for the past few years. My wife passed away a few years back with cancer and lived only nine months after her diagnosis. I can only send my best to his wife as I know what it feels like to be the one by the bedside at the last moments. We start out wanting to fight and have our loved one survive, but then things decline to a point where we change and realize that their peaceful passing on is the best we should now hope for. May you find the strength in those moments of silence that now exist and the memories of those most special "little" things about Dan that will make you cry and make you smile. He was truly a remarkable musician and Bard of the ballad. My condolences to his wife and family.

A wonderful man truly introduced me to the music and meaning of 'Mr. F' as he affectionately became known. His passing has saddened us both but we are both agreed that his legacy will live 'Ever On'. He has helped me to understand another person in the best possible way & discover something of myself. My heartfelt respects and sympathies to the Fogelberg family, know that he was well loved by many worldwide.

It's now hauntingly ironic that the last album I listened to before heading to bed the night before Dan passed was "Greetings From the West." I hadn't listened to that album in years, but his music always carries me back to a simpler, more pleasurable time in my life. For that, I am forever grateful. May he rest in peace.

I am saddened at the loss of your husband, Dan. His music, like an audio picture album full of sweet memories as he sang his way into my life ... this I will have for a life time ... but you and his family and friends, have the greatest loss of all. May God carry your burden while you grieve the loss of one so loved for what he did, but known however by a few for who he was. Forever grateful to God for Dan Fogelberg.
