I saw Bo back in '64 when he was in his prime, closing the first half of the Everly brothers tour he had us all rockin' with road runner, pretty thing, bring it to jerome, wot a great artist, bottom of the bill on the night, "the rolling stones"
bo, you will be sadly missed thankfully your music will live on

This is a sad day! Bo Diddley was a great human being. We toured, performed and lived with him playing on one tour, 11 shows a week every week across Australia over a 3 month period. Bo had the enthusiasm of a teenager who had just found his love in life, this, after he had already been in the business for about 25 years at that stage. Bo was a man of Honour, loyalty and a love for his friends. Every member of RAT SALAD owes him a debt that can never be repaid. We learnt an enormous amount playing with Bo and he effected all our lives and mine to the point that I (Lee “Leeroy” Hammond) named my first born son after him (Beau Hammond). On one occasion whilst we were on tour Bo was to fly from Bega on the NSW far south coast to Sydney to play at the Musicians club that night. We (his band) had to drive 10 hours to the gig. Bo refused to fly and jumped into the car with us and said “I love you guys, I`m comin` with you”. On another occasion a promoter wanted to remove us from the tour and replace us with a band that cost less. Bo`s reply to this was “NO Rat Salad, NO Bo Diddley, I will not walk on stage without my band Rat Salad”. If you had Bo Diddley`s loyalty he would stick by you no matter what, that`s the man he was. To Bo`s family our thoughts are with you. Beau was an enormous human being and we loved him very much. I can see Bo`s long time manager Marty with his cheeky grin giving him a hug as we walks through the gates of Rock`n`Roll heaven. Thank you BO DIDDLEY from your friends – RAT SALAD, Lee “Leeroy” Hammond, Steve Russell, Alan “Grub” Dews and Graham “Baby Face” Perkins, (Bo Diddleys Australian Band 1980-84). And thank you Bo you were my mentor, Lee “Leeroy” Hammond. RESPECT and LOVE always.

Last time I saw Bo was in the early 90's at The Circle Star Theater. He lit up that stage with his guitar grooves. I will continue to celebrate his music and infectious spirit---he will certainly be missed down here but you can be sure that Rock n' Roll Heaven is groovin' like crazy!!!!!!!!!!

I had the privilege to see Bo at the Crossroads 2004 performance. I remember the guy in front of us leaned over & told his wife "Now we're gonna see the real thing". He was right.

RIP Bo you were a great influence to many including my Father who also passed this year. He was as old as Bo but looked up to him for his guitar prowess. Both of you will be greatly missed by me.

MY DEAREST BO YOU WERE A GREAT FRIEND AND GOOD NEIGHBOR AND YOU WILL BE MISSED. YOUR MUSIC LIVES IN SO MANY OF US AND HAS HAD A GRAND INPACK ON MY LIFE, AS WELL, AS YOUR FRIENDSHIP.

As your neighbor in Archer, FL, you will be missed by all of us in the community. You were great and so cool playing that square guitar. You paved the way for Elvis and many others. Thanks for playing at many local places and thanks for the memories.

I was born in 1959 and grew up listening to Bo through my parents so I listened to him as I got older Sir you will be missed ..... GOD BLESS MAY GOD SPEED, ROCK ON..

It's a sad day in music history. Bo diddley was one of the best guitar players that I have ever listened to. I am very sad to hear that the originator has died today. I will always miss his dancing on stage and his amazing guitar playing.

As a child the song Bo Diddley open all the doors to the music to come. I loved your music my man, and my sons dig you as well. God Bless you and yours. We're sure gonna miss you.

A wonderful artist with an "up-beat beat", we'll never tire of listening to Bo Diddley's music. There must be music in heaven, too,

I first heard Bo in 1954 and have listened ever since. No other artist has been more enjoyable. I saw him many times over the years and regret that I did not make the effort to see him once more. The music will never die.

I grew up listing and loving you.
You will always be missed.
Charles

Toured with Bo for 10 plus years. A one of a kind great guy. You will truly be missed.
We'll pitch some quarters up in heaven, Bo.

I was just a kid when I first heard your music. Noone had ever heard anything like it before. You and a few other guys played your brands of music and started rock and roll. You helped shape my life and my musical direction. I am forever greatful to you. THANKS RIP PJ Celi

Like They say So Many Times About Others less Worthy...before There Was Bo..There was Nothing...he defined a sound..he trademarked a personae..he was a unique artis..and Bo Didley transformed the music from generations to generations..his mark will always be there...his sound is timeless and unmistakeable..Thanks , Bo..for so much great music on your own level..and for helping out so many who did not give you the hard-earned credit that you deserved...we will always have your music...and heaven now has your talents...
