We first met Andy along with his other lovely friends at our weekly Saturday social tennis afternoon. He loved his tennis and never missed a match. He was a excellent and sporting player and it was hard to get a ball past when "Netting was at the net".
Three years ago we moved to Batemans Bay and he opened his arms to say we were always welcome to stay with him whenever we visited Sydney. We took up his offer many times and got to know Andy well. He enjoyed our company and visa versa and we often went out to shows and restaurants. When he went overseas a few times for holidays and work, we looked after his loyal companion, Lizzie the dog, which was a worry off Andy's mind. We now have Lizzie and we will care for her and give her all the same love that Andy gave her.
Andy had a lovely service and had many friends there to say goodbye. The officiator, Phillip Grace spoke beautifully and after showing Neil's mum the service booklet, we realised that Philip spoke at Neil's grandma's funeral as well.
Thank you Andy for your friendship, your sporting nature and your trust. We will both miss you our dear friend. Neil, Sarah and Lizzie.

Andy joined the State Library of NSW team of Volunteers in June 2009. His great love and knowledge of Antarctica was a wonderful asset in transcribing some of our Frank Hurley diaries and letters. A true gentleman with a lovely sense of humour. Sincere sympathy to the family, from the staff and volunteers at the State Library of NSW.

I remember playing tennis on the weekends, and Andy was a major part of that. I remember meeting Lizzie for the first time...such a sweet dog. I found it fascinating when I found out Andy was a botanical expert. I am sad to hear of his passing. Best Wishes and Warm Regards, to his family and other friends.

We met Andy on a few occasions over dinner & found him to be a very pleasant & genuine person. While the finer points of his work were beyond us, the conversations we had with Andy were both interesting & informative.
Rest in peace Andy.
