I have just read of Alans death and wish to extend my sympathies to his family. I worked with Alan many years ago in the1980's when he presented the weather on ABC TV and I was one of the graphic designers who prepared and drew up his weather maps etc. I have very fond and friendly memories of him as we would often share a joke or two when he came in and he taught me how to do the cryptic crosswords in the SMH - a bit dangerous as I would get engrossed in doing them with him and forget about the weather maps! Anyway I thought he was a great guy, extremely pleasant and friendly to work with and I find it terribly sad that he has passed away. My very deepest sympathies and condolences to his family.
